HUMANS.
spies; humans are spies. okay, not all of them are spies. some of them are just jealous that they don't have a super natural, super cool ability. they don't shift, they don't feed off of human blood, and they don't evoke magical entities from the ground. they're just....living. they used to be the ones to rule everything - humans used to be the creatures that were the only known species. now, with the influx of knowledge of the super natural living among them, humans are inferior, a minority. some of them are understanding beings, ready to wake up and welcome the change in society that the others bring. every time you look around, you never know if you're seeing a human or not, and humans are the most oblivious to the physicality of a being. for the most part, they live normal human lives, if there is any such thing as normal these days.
VAMPIRES.
fuck edward cullen, okay? vampires live off of human blood strictly; there's no such thing as a vegetarian vampire. you either get your blood from a blood bank, or from a human in the flesh (all puns intended here). oh, and you don't sparkle. what's the use in that? in the sun, you don't burn up either. a vampire might get a little irritated in the sun, and after a long period exposed you might get burned pretty badly, but you won't burst into flames and run around like a mad man. a vampire is turned into such two ways: through being born that way from a human mother or half-human mother and a vampire father or half-vampire father. otherwise, you were bitten by another vampire, and they changed you. you stop aging once you're bitten and if you're born a vamp, you stop aging around the age of 25. of course, changing and being a consort are two different things, but a consort will be later explained under humans. however, vampires are essentially dead, which means there's no heartbeat and no blood flow....which also means no body heat. have fun being a walking ice block. plus, you don't sleep. instead, you spend your nights doing...just about every damn thing you please.
WEREWOLVES.
the full moon has nothing to do with werewolves here. of course, that doesn't change much about being a werewolf though. usually moody in their human form, once in their wolf form they're uncontrollable, and all of who they are as a human is forgotten. it takes more than just getting a werewolf grumpy to make them shift into their wolf form, but get them enraged enough and you're pretty much dead. in their wolf form, these creatures are ruthless, merciless animals that will stop at nothing to get off the anger and rage they feel. they won't even stop at loved ones stepping fearlessly in their way.
SHIFTERS.
okay get the image of jacob black out of your head at this instant. these shifters here don't just turn into one kind of animal. throughout their lives, if they learn how to control their ability, a shifter may be able to turn into countless different animals, mostly all from the same family though. so if you turn into a fox the first time you shift, you'll most likely only get as far as a wolf...or a dingo...or a house dog. however, if you ever get advanced enough, you may find it easy to shift into any animal you like...but that could take forever if you're not skilled. in human form though, shifters are hard to pick out from humans. unless they carry around a shifter trait with them, physically they are humans.
ANGELS.
imagine light in a human body, and you've got angels. they are creatures of light, born in the most purest of times and brought up in the most (seemingly) perfect situations. most of the time, anyway. they're always happy and positive (or almost always) and never cease to find good in everyone....even their enemies. some call this being naive, but angels usually just call it being an angel. angels never seem to age and some seem to live forever, but that doesn't make it easy for them to have children. angel offspring are few and far between for the most part, and most angels avoid falling in love with other species, as hybrid angels are usually unaccepted by society. angels are supposed to be whole and pure and...even a slight taint to that ruins an angel. angels have the amazing ability to fly and levitate, as well as healing powers. have a scratch? your local nurse is most likely an angel.
DEMONS.
demons are the exact opposite of angels. they're born of darkness, usually in a harsh condition and into impoverished families or situations. they're usually hard around the edges and don't really get too emotional outside of rage or sadness. demons usually only stay in their own, isolated group, but once in a while they find a light to bring them out of the darkness. in any given case, demons have a multitude of abilities: some have super strength that's strictly activated upon destruction, and others are able to control storms and other weather. demons are strongest at night, and hardly need sleep (much more than a vampire but less than any other species). demons can also levitate, but again are usually strongest at night.
PIXIES.
when you think of pixies, you probably think of tinker bell, right? well, scratch that thought. pixies aren't tiny, but they do fly. they're naturally attracted to glitter, but they don't wear it. if it's shiny, pixies like it. pixies usually have an affinity for one of the four elements: special, unusual cases allow very few pixies to have affinities for all four elements. they're very tied to the earth no matter their affinity and usually like living on beaches or in the center of a forest. pixies have the ability to live longer than most other species and age much slower, along with the ability to regenerate clean water, new plants, unpolluted air, and bring fire out of practically air. depending on their affinity though, one may be stronger than the other. usually pixies don't reproduce with other species, but on the special occasion that they do, it's more likely that the offspring would gain pixie genes than the other species (there's no given reason as to why).
ELVES.
when you think of elves, you probably imagine creatures with pointy ears and, in some cases, bad attitudes. well, every elf is different. they don't work for santa and they're not usually too short. instead, they're almost like angels in the fact that they're creatures of light. typically, elves emanate light like no other creature, and you can usually find them flourishing in the sun. they're active and positive creatures, usually of the hyper persuasion. elves can typically reproduce with any other species that can reproduce with it, as well as fellow elves. hyrbrid elves usually end up having more genes and characteristics of the other species, though in some cases that's not the full truth.
WITCHES.
forget harry potter. witches and wizards are the same thing; the names differentiate between genders is all. witches are as close to humans as they can get without being humans. most humans consider witches to follow the wicca religion, but most of the actually don't. witches use spells, herbs, crystals, and nature to heal and promote positivity....if they're what most call a good witch. 'bad' witches are evil, and pretty much do as they please. typically witches live as humans do, as long as humans do, and reproduce as humans do. their lifestyle, as well as a slight genetic mutation, sets them apart from the humans.
WEAPONS.
see that word, and you probably think of machine guns. well, no. around here, the weapons are the humans. they're weapons because they all have special gifts. whether it's x-ray vision or the ability to read minds, humans are gifted. they live like every day humans, reproduce like every day humans, and sleep like every day humans, but they have special abilities that sets them apart from every other every day human. because of these abilities, some people want them. they want these humans to make them into weapons against the other species....but thank god they have free will. a weapon can also be a vampire's consort. this simply means that they're fed from regularly, but not dried of all blood at once by a single vampire. more than one vampires attacking any human at once will either result in that human turning into a vampire, or the human ultimately dying. being a consort just means that on a regular basis, one single vampire (the same vampire for an extended period of time in most cases) feeds from the same human without completely drying them out, it's risky business people.
HYBRIDS.
hybrids aren't rare anymore. interbreeding caused not so much of an outburst, but suddenly hybrids are everywhere you turn. they're just a mixture of two of the above mentioned species....and sometimes that's not for the best.
