The entire western seaboard has been wiped out by the Hemathraxphor virus. At this point, it is uncertain as to whether or not a cure will be found. All hope seems to be lost. The city of San Francisco has now fallen entirely to the lycan packs, who own the rest of the Bay Area and a majority of Northern California. A few hundred humans still remain in the city, either as slaves to the lycans or as street rats in hiding.
